Press Release: Lake Area celebrate Independence Day- “United We Stand” Fun for the whole family at this two-day event

In celebration of Independence Day, Our Country Day, the lake area’s annual celebration of the fourth of  July, will be hosting its’ traditional events.

On Friday, July 2nd, the Street Dance starts the festivities with a live band, “Mid-life Crisis & the Hot Flashes”playing from 7:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. The dance will be held in the parking lot of Keystone Village Plazaon SR-100. This event is free and open to the public.

On Saturday, July 3rd, a full slate of event and activities are scheduled throughout the day leading up to a
spectacular fireworks display at dark.

• New this year at the Gazebo in Nature Park collection for the troops will take place. Helpful Hearts will be collecting items to send soldiers overseas. Drop off items from 9am – 2 pm.

• An animal exhibit will be featured in Nature Park from 9 am – 4 pm. Endangered Species LiveEducational Talk at 12 noon / Exhibit by: Single Vision. http://www.singlevisioninc.org/

• 5 K run Sign-In from 6:30 a.m. – 8 a.m./ Run starts at 8 a.m. At the Theme Park next to city hall.

• DJ OCP Another Badd Creation Mobile DJ Service will have the tunes rocking starting at 8 am in front of City Hall.

• An arts and crafts fair with food vending will be held in the Theme Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• The entertaining and irresistible Baby Crawl race is at 10 a.m. in the Theme Park

• Music in the Park by Don Suter and Friends will fill the air from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

• The crowd pleasing parade will take place at 11 a.m. down South Lawrence Boulevard. This year’s theme is “United We Stand”.

• Bring your canine companion to the “Top Dog” contest at 1 p.m. located at the circle in theTheme Park.

• Sign up for the Karaoke competition held from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m to highlight your singing talent.Register Day of Show. Trophy for most talented will be awarded.

• Our Country Day switches gears and venues and prepares for fireworks at the Twin Lakes Park located off SR-100 3 miles east of town.

• Stirring up the fun Southern Rukus Band will perform at 6:00 p.m. Food vendors and childrens activities available.

• Weather permitting the pyrotechnical show begins at 9:30 p.m. Event planners suggest coming early to the fireworks to avoid the parking lines. No coolers or alcohol allowed.
