Keystone Heights Florida Our Country Day July 2, 2010 - July 3, 2010

Keystone Heights Florida Our Country Day July 2, 2010 - July 3, 2010

This annual event began in 1969 when Mayor Ray Starnes gathered local citizens to honor the national holiday. The celebration has since changed, but the underlying theme of patriotism has continued.

Keystone Heights come out and support Our Country day, a day dedicated to our great country and our soldiers and veterans past, present and future. (More information on the OCD Website: http://www.ourcountryday.com)

If you are a local owned business our Corporation please contact the volunteer members of OCD (http://www.ourcountryday.com) for information on opportunities to become a sponsor of Our Country Day.

We are a small community with values and traditions lets honor our country, Military Men and woman now and in the future by letting them know how much we appreciate our freedoms, and their  sacrifices by demonstrating our patriotism (Patriotism is love and devotion to one's country.) and love for our small community. Let us continue great traditions such as Our Country Day and pass along our small town traditions, values and beliefs to our children so they have these memories, values and traditions to pass along to their children.

Come out for the Street dance on July, 2, 2010 and the Parade and Fireworks Display on July 3, 2010.

For everyone who views this that does not reside in Keystone Heights Florida if you ever get the opportunity please come join us for Our Country day or any of our other festivities throughout the year, We also wish you and your community a safe and Happy Our Country Day (4th of July)

The theme this year is "United We Stand”.

This July 4th celebration will focus on the birth of our great nation and the establishment of Clay County.  Generations of Floridians have raised their children here as well as the many folks who moved here after discovering Clay’s communities nestled in beautiful Northeast Florida.  The communities are examples of hometown America.  We welcome you to join us for a small town celebration in honor of our county and nation, and experience a true local tradition.

I would personally like to thank all of the volunteers who give their time to make this event a safe and memorable one; I know first hand you spend tireless hours planning organizing these events for all of Keystone and the surrounding areas. Much Respect to all of you.

“Break Red” must hear songs "Hear ya Talkin" and "Do you Remember"

“Break Red” sent me a few songs to check out. So here is my short write up:

Song one: “Break Red” "Hear ya Talkin:: This song has a big Cinderella influence in the vocals, with a great Southern Rock influenced tempo.

Song two:  from "Break Red"  "Do you Remember":  this is a great song it is like a mix of Bon Jovi, Tesla, The scorpions ,kind of has that winds of change attitude with a hint of classic Spanish guitar. I got to hear more of “Break Red" .

On the DJ OCP scale these two “Break Red” songs are defiant 9’s sorry guys 10 is perfect and nobody is perfect but wow an awesome sound. Don’t Tease me send me more. And would love the chance to interview Break Red and post the interview on the Blog.

Much Respect

Life is good in the South

I went fishing this morning but after a short time I ran out of worms. Then I saw a cottonmouth with a frog in his mouth. (For all y'all Northerners and City Folk, a "cottonmouth" is a water moccasin -- one of the 4 poisonous snakes in North America, and generally the meanest, being more aggressive than rattlesnakes.)

Frogs are good bass bait. Knowing the snake couldn't bite me with the frog in his mouth I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog, and put it in my bait bucket.

Now the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting bit. So, I grabbed my bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little whiskey in its mouth. His eyes rolled back, he went limp. I released him into the lake without incident and carried on fishing using the frog.

A little later, I felt a nudge on my foot. There was that same snake with two frogs in his mouth.

Life is good in the South.

The Top 5 Before You Ride:

Your Motorcycle Checklist

• Tire pressure: Some tires lose air very slowly and a soft
tire, although it might not be obvious, is a major safety issue.

• Fluid levels: It's always good to check the engine oil,
transmission oil, and brake fluid, etc. after an idle spell.
They're also easier to check after the bike's been sitting for a
while and all the fluids have settled to their lowest point.

• Air filters: Make sure they're clean and that small creatures
haven't taken up residence in the housing.

• The battery: It's not unusual for the battery to get low or
even go dead after sitting for an extended period. Check the
water in the battery and make sure it has enough charge left
to start the bike. It may need to be charged or replaced.

• Lights: Make sure they're all working and visible.

Ride safe, Burn rubber not your soul.

Respect
